Live is full of surprises.
Today I went to a museum not far away from the city of Salamanca. In the village of Doñinos. It is the museum of Angel Mateos. This artist worked with reinforced concrete. If you like this material and the brutalisme in art it is a really MUST go museum. There is maybe 1 disadvantage, the opening hours, only in the weekends. But maybe they make an exception if you are really interested. As I always say “If you do not ask, you will never know”
The building itself is already an example of his work. He designed it and constructed it. The collection is full of imagination and styles. You can see images of nature in his work and you can find yourself living in his sculptures or just see it as a piece of art, what it is. The thing about his work is, it is not found in any museum. Only this one. Some of his work you can see in cities as a big sculpture. Which was his dream, see his work transformed to big sculptures in cities or nature. But his work to stayed close, in Doñinos. And he himself was not really amused by attention. He was born in the little village of Villavieja de Yelte. In an atmosphere of constructors and stonemasons.
